Beauty Products Designed for Hijabis

Halal/vegan beauty products have come onto the market over the past few years, and I have had the pleasure of trying a few.

I was contacted to test out a few products by Medina Healthcare and of course as a Muslim women whom wears hijab I was excited to try out the hijabi range. Of course I couldn't leave the hubbie out so got him a moisturiser to test (and to stop him from taking mine!) Medina Healthcare stock products for men, women and children. They are free from animal products, alcohols and harsh chemicals.

Hijabi Haircare is specially formulated for women that wear hijab. Why you may ask? Well if like me you find that your hijab often leaves you with flat hair and more prone to fall out, then this may just be for you.

Packaging

They all come in standard bottles with screw caps. I thought this would be a problem when in the shower as it can be difficult to open when my hands are wet. However it didn't cause any difficulty and I also like that the bottles are see-through so you can tell once you have run out.

The moisturiser comes in a pot. I usually prefer tubes to pots for hygiene reasons as I don't like to dip my fingers into the pot, although the hubbie doesn't mind this. The ingredients include pure blackseed oil, aloe vera and cocoa butter.

As it was my husband testing this product he commented it is easy to spread and absorbs quickly. The smell is also pleasant, like seeded bread (must be the black seed oil) It provides enough moisture for him, and he likes to use after making wudhu.

The shampoo contains rosemary which smells pleasant and not too strong. I found this quite runny so it did spill out of the bottle once opened. You only need to use a tiny amount so it will probably last a while.

The conditioner contains calendula oil which helps to nourish; rosemary to balance oily and give a healthy shine to your hair. It is also free from SLES and Parabens. You only need to use a tiny amount to avoid greasy hair.

For the shower gel you only need to use a tiny amount of this to create a lather. The gel contains aloe vera and coconut oil, which felt soft on my skin and didn't dry it out. The bottle is 300ml so will last a long time.

Conclusion

Overall I think the range is good for the price and if you are after beauty products that are alcohol free and not tested on animals. I didn't feel much benefit from the hair products but this is probably because I have only been testing for 2 weeks.

It would be great to see a body scrub added to the range to use in conjunction with the shower gel. I also think they should sell their products in sets which can be given as gifts.

You can purchase these and other products from Medina website  or from a few retailers listed here
