Hi Guys!
Today I'm going to be reviewing a gel liner from Maybelline.
I have to admit when I first heard of this eye liner I thought it would be a cheap version of MAC's black track. However I was encouraged by the lovely Blog-a-Beaute to give it a try. So I popped into my local Boots and was pleasantly surprised to see it on offer for £5.99 (RRP is £7.99) which is a saving of £2!
The gel liner comes with a small brush which surprise, surprise is very good! It makes applying the liner super easy and can be used to create a thin flick at the ends for that cat eye look. The gel is very pigmented and glides on smoothly. Although it does take a little longer than the Body shop liquid liner to dry, it stays put for many hours. It didn't smudge through the day unless I rubbed my eyes (I have a bad habit of doing this!) I've so far had it on for a maximum of 7 hours so I can't say whether the 24 hr claim is true.
Another use for the liner is to apply as a base before eyeshadow for a smoky eye look (Thanks Blog-a-beaute for this tip!)
To remove use any cream based cleanser or cleansing oil.
Conclusion
This liner is so easy to apply, it literally takes me ten seconds to do each eye. It's dark and very pigmented so you only need to use a tiny amount. This means the tiny pot will last for a very long time! In my opinion it is as good, if not better than MAC's fluid line in blacktrack. It is a lot cheaper than MAC or even Bobbi Brown gel liner, so lives up to its hype!
EDIT: I find that I can't use the eyeliner on my water line as I wear contact lenses and it always seems to find its way onto my lenses, causing irritation. As a result I stick to a black pencil eyeliner for my water line but the gel liner is perfect for my upper lid!
You can purchase from Boots or Superdrug
